How to order a custom knife?

When ordering a custom made knife, it would be good to know roughly what kind of knife you want. Here are a few questions which would let me know pretty well what kind of knife you want. If you can't answer all of them, I can give recommendations or even choose for you. You can copy the questions into the contact form or write your order in free words. I try to respond to messages on business days within 24 hours.

  • What type of knife do you want? (Puukko, kitchen knife, leuku, etc.)
  • Dimensions. I need at least the approximate length of the blade and handle. The most common dimensions for my puukkos are about 90mm blade and about 110mm handle.
  • Steel. Do you want a more traditional carbon steel or a stainless steel? What steel would you prefer, exactly? I most commonly use 80CrV2 carbon steel, n690 stainless steel, and CPM Magnacut stainless powder steel.
  • What material would you like the fittings or pins to be made of? I usually make the fittings out of brass, bronze or nickel silver, but other materials are also available.
  • What would you like as a handle material?
  • What kind of blade geometry do you want? (My puukkos always have a high scandi, other options include convex or hollow)
  • What kind of blade finish would you like? Hand finished or belt grinder finished? Satin, glossy satin or mirror finish? I can also make a stonewashed blade.
  • Forged or ground flats for the blade?
  • “sharp” 90 degree spine (common in puukkos and other outdoor knives) or rounded spine?
  • Finishing of fittings or tang. Satin, glossy satin or mirror finish?
  • What kind of sheath would you like? (I only make leather sheaths at the moment)
  • Right-handed or left-handed sheath?
  • What color sheath?
  • Do you want any decorations on the sheath? (For example, my sheaths often have simple lines)

The waiting time for custom made knives varies from a few weeks to a few months. I charge a 50% deposit for custom made knives.
